No more closet DVD/VHS players

The problem? - It is the inputs to the sound system /amplifier!   There are two; one for your microphone and one for your PC.  I am looking for a work around but it is time to move past these devices too.

Instead you should be playing DVD's or videos on your computer.  Now the question is WHICH COMPUTER?
Or which computer hook up!
Options
  1. Teacher desk with DESKTOP computer DVD drive and VLC player.
  2. *Teacher desk with LAPTOP set up.
You will need an external DVD player to plug in to your dock.
  3. *Second desk with DESKTOP computer DVD drive and VLC player.
You will NOT have audio from your TEACHER laptop desk.
  4. Screenbeam video to projector.
DOES not send audio to speakers.  Sound comes out projector speaker.
Seems like a "no-brainer" to do #1 and use your laptop "as a laptop" as needed.
Don't forget that subs will need access to a computer to play videos as well.

No more VHS

You may notice that none of the options include an analog VHS player.  Sorry those are just too old to use anymore.

New Computer?

If you are getting a new computer or getting re-provisoned

This is a good time to clean up your files and desktop.  When you open "This PC"  you will notice a cloud icon next to Documents, Desktop, and Pictures.  Those 3 folders are synced to your online, OneDrive account.  Meaning those 3 folders are accessible from anywhere online.  Including a smart phone with the OneDrive app.

You <in theory> won't loose anything stored in those 3 folders!

You will loose

Outlook items

"Bookmarks" (Chrome, IE, Firefox)

  • Non saved contacts*
  • Signature file* (easy to re-create)
  • Probably other <non-important> items!

I am not sure why but outlook does NOT sync those items.

IE Favorites
Google bookmarks (If you are NOT logged in)
(Does anyone use Firefox anymore? Export them.)

Options. (see videos below)
Be logged into Chrome. Not Drive. Chrome.
Export your IE favorites

Chrome Bookmarks

IE Favorites

In summary

  • Documents, Desktop, and Pictures are all backed up to the cloud. Save All documents to those folders.
  • IE favorites are NOT saved and must be exported.
  • Save email addresses as a Contact
  • Google Bookmarks ARE saved IF you are logged in to CHROME.
  • Export your IE fav's. Only if you have enough to worry about.
  • You do not need to delete anything.
  • Know what printers or other specific to you, software you need.
